Coast Guard Community Festival
Friday, May 8th through 10th
Where: Throughout Cape May County
Cape May County will host a three-day community festival Friday, May 8 through Sunday, May 10 to honor U.S. Coast Guard personnel and their families for the extraordinary role they play in our nation and community, as well as to celebrate Cape May County’s new designation as a “Coast Guard Community.’ The festival kicks off with a Proclamation Ceremony, where U.S Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Paul Zukunft will officially present the “Coast Guard Community” designation to the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders and Mayors from the county’s 16 municipalities.

Avalon Wine and Spirits Festival

Where: Avalon Community Hall, 3001 Avalon Avenue, Avalon
Spring is finally here, and what better way to start Mother’s Day weekend in Avalon than at the Avalon Wine & Spirits Festival on Friday, May 8? The event, hosted by the Avalon Chamber of Commerce and Fred’s Avalon Liquor Store, will feature more than 200 wines and spirits. Guests are invited to sample some of the world’s finest wines, flavored vodkas, and popular whiskeys, scotch and bourbon, while browsing great silent-auction items. The festival is scheduled from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Avalon Community Hall.

32nd Annual World Series of Birding
Saturday, May 9th – All Day
Where: Throughout New Jersey
On Saturday, May 9, 2015, more than 70 teams are expected to participate in the 32nd annual World Series of Birding, hosted by New Jersey Audubon (NJA). The World Series of Birding is a fun and competitive “Big Day” for birding and nature enthusiasts. Teams have up to 24 hours (from midnight to midnight) to count as many bird species as they can identify by sight or sound within the state of New Jersey.

5th Annual Fun Family Field Day 5K Run, 1 Mile Walk and Flea Market

Concerned Citizens of Whitesboro, Inc. partners with Jack and Jill of America, Atlantic City Chapter to host the 5th Annual Fun Family Field Day 5K Run/1Mile Walk.

Explore the Shore
Saturday, May 9th from 11am to 12:30pm
Where: Nature Center of Cape May, 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May
Discover the secrets of Cape May Harbor as we explore the shore and marsh. Join our naturalists as we hike the beach, pull a seine net (weather permitting), and encounter an incredible diversity of marine life. We’ll learn about the fascinating lives of the animals that inhabit our coastal and wetland habitats; including the fascinating and ancient Horseshoe Crab. Have an up-close experience with horseshoe crabs, sea stars, and other local marine critters in our laboratory and learn why these animals are so important. Walk-ins welcome. No preregistration necessary.

Harry’s Grand Opening Weekend Party

Where: Harry’s Ocean Bar & Grill, 1025 Beach Avenue, Cape May
Harry’s Ocean Bar & Grill opens for the 2015 season on Friday May 8, and will celebrate with a 2015 Launch Party on Saturday, May 9 starting at 9:30 p.m. with live music from The Bastard Sons of Captain Mey.

Morey’s Piers Mother’s Day Celebration
