Do the Shore: First Week in April

Hard to believe it is already the first week in April! Before we know it the busy season will start so go out and relish in everything the shore has to offer before your schedule gets too demanding to enjoy it. Check out the highlights for this week.

Award Season Film – The Imitation Game
April 2 from 6-8 PM
Where: Avalon Free Public Library 235 32nd Street, Avalon

In The Imitation Game, Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Alan Turing, the genius British mathematician, logician, cryptologist and computer scientist who led the charge to crack the German Enigma Code that helped the Allies win WWII. Turing went on to assist with the development of computers at the University of Manchester after the war, but was prosecuted by the UK government in 1952 for homosexual acts which the country deemed illegal. Stars: Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley and Matthew Goode.
Rated PG-13 for some sexual references, mature thematic material and historical smoking.

5th Annual Turtle Fest
April 4 from 9-3 PM
Where: The Wetlands Institute 1075 Stone Harbor Boulevard, Stone Harbor

Come enjoy a pancake breakfast for the whole family. Hunt for terrapin eggs, play games and earn prizes! Seatings at 9, 10, 10:45, and 11:30am.

Deana Martin Performing
April 4 from 8-10 PM
Where: Cape May Convention Hall Beach Avenue, Cape May

The tradition of Great American Song continues at Cape May Convention Hall when Deana Martin pays homage to her iconic Dad, Dean Martin while setting her own standard for exemplary showmanship, musical taste and musicianship. The one night only concert will take place on Saturday, April 4 at 8 p.m.

Lighthouse Full Moon Climb
April 4 at 8 PM
Where: Cape May Point State Park, Cape May

Lighthouse Full Moon Climb: The Friends of the Cape May Lighthouse invite you to climb the lighthouse under the full moon. Let the bright light of the moon guide you up the 199 stairs to the starry top. Admission to the Visitors’ Orientation Center and the ground floor of the Lighthouse is free.

Lifesize Candy Land
April 6 from 11-4 PM
Where: Congress Hall 200 Congress Place, Cape May

What’s the quickest way to get to the Candy Castle? Through Congress Hall’€™s Grand Ballroom of course! This spring break the Ballroom will transform into a life-sized Candy Land game. Join us on the search for King Kandy and navigate your way through the molasses swamp and lollipop forest. At every stop there will be special prizes and candy along the way, until you meet the ultimate goal and reach the sugary palace at the end.
