Laura, a 21 year old student at Georgetown University, came to us looking for a way to “dress up” her everyday look. A member of the Georgetown field hockey team, Laura spends most of her summer days running and training for the rigorous and fast approaching days of pre-season. After her morning workouts, she usually just reaches for a bathing suit, a tee, and denim shorts to complete her daily wardrobe. But Laura arrived to People People of Stone Harbor ready to ditch the denim for a sundress upgrade. Sporting a blue basic tee, jean shorts, and her favorite Rainbow flip flops, Laura expressed her dream “after” look. “I want to look put together, but still casual. And I love stripes,” directed Laura. People People owner Jen and an enthusiastic sales associate got to work, pulling each and every comfy dress that would suit petite Laura’s frame. In the end, Laura’s love for the navy and white striped Shoshanna sundress trumped all other options. She slipped into a pair of white basket weave Lilly Pulitzer wedges and grabbed the white and navy anchor-accented clutch, also by Lilly Pulitzer. “In my opinion, you can never be too nautical,” Laura assured us. Confident that (as Laura said) more nautical equals more fun, Jen added white and gold accented anchor post earrings to the look. Last, but certainly not least, the gold chunky beaded chain necklace added a funky, fun touch to Laura’s fresh new look. “I really LOVE the dress,” stated Laura excitedly. “And it’s really comfortable,” she added. She was even sure to take a second look at the anchor clutch, seriously considering the purchase. And with her $50 complimentary gift card, Laura is looking forward to several future purchases…Don’t miss your chance at a great value People People makeover at their August 24th “Beat the Crowd” Sale beginning at 10 a.m. at their Stone Harbor location. Joanna arrived at Caroline Boutique of Cape May in hopes of finding a look that she describes as a “happy medium”. A young mother of 4 year old Ava and 1 year old Ali, Joanna dreamed of an “after” look that was not too “old” but at the same time appropriate for a mom to wear. “I can’t dress like a teen anymore, but I don’t want to age myself,” explained twenty eight year old Joanna. Caroline, owner of Caroline Boutique, and employees immediately got to work in search of Joanna’s dream look. They selected a set of unique attire and accessories and then anxiously waited as Joanna slipped out of her “before” denim shorts and tank. “I’ve never tried on such comfortable jeans!” exclaimed Joanna from the dressing room. Moments later, she emerged in a cerulean blue shimmer Michael Stars tank and the unbelievably comfy AG white Cigarette Jeans. Caroline Boutique staff assisted Joanna as she slipped into the Relais wrap sweater and then finished the look with a unique handmade mahogany belt imported from Turkey. This thick, woven belt cinched and highlighted Joanna’s tiny waistline and created a funky draping effect in the wrap sweater. The deep blue Hobo leather clutch and one-of-a-kind Fran Battendieri blue stone necklace complemented the cerulean tank and sky blue hues of the sweater. Last, Joanna slipped into the beige Castell sandals, imported from Spain, completing her fabulous transformation. “I love it. It’s so cute,” Joanna stated as she posed in front of the mirror. This full time mom had at last found an outfit fun enough for her twenty-something age yet perfectly appropriate for a day on the town with her two daughters. For a Caroline Boutique wardrobe upgrade of your own, stop by from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily March through December and on weekends January through February. A thirty year fashion institution and the oldest clothing store in Cape May, Caroline Boutique offers high quality clothing items and one-of-a-kind accessories adored by Cape May County patrons of all ages.
