Joan, our very first fashion makeover participant, initially described herself as “stuck in a rut”. A mother of a 24 year old, 21 year old, and 17 year old, she was on a quest to once again find her fashionable self now that her kids have flown the nest. Marcellina of Wildwood came to the rescue. “I always dress the same,” Joan explained to Marcellina owner and makeover consultant Tina. Joan arrived in an orange v-neck, Bermuda denim shorts, and her trusty black rubber flip flops. As a sales associate in the cable television industry, Joan is expected to meet with clients regularly. And in sales, she explained, first impressions are everything. In a male-dominated business, she was hoping to find a fashion-forward, feminine look to make her stand out in the crowd. “I want to find an outfit that could be business casual AND perfect for a night out to dinner,” she expressed. Tina got to work and assembled Joan’s dream “after” look. Joan slipped into a Marcellina nude colored cami and a chocolate pair of Nic + Zoe dress pants. “These pants are so comfortable!” she exclaimed in surprise. At Marcellina, fashion and comfort are not mortal enemies…Tina then added a Nic + Zoe ultra-flattering cream colored, three-quarter sleeves sweater to the look. Joan loved it. Last but certainly not least, Joan said goodbye to her everyday flip flops and hello to a silver pair of Brighton heeled slip-on sandals, adorned with metallic beading. “I feel great! The top and sweater are so slimming and the watch is elegant but great for everyday,” exclaimed Joan as she smiled at her reflection in the mirror. 27 year old Kearsten arrived at White Lotus Boutique of Sea Isle City in search for a fashion upgrade on her everyday, casual look.
