Events are canceled, some of our favorite activities are closed, and people are told to practice social distancing. So how do you ‘Do The Shore’ when you can’t leave your home? These local businesses are doing their best to bring the shore to you!

Virtual Ceremony on Armed Forces Day from the WWII Lookout Tower
Cape May MAC

Armed Forces Day is Saturday, May 16. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, MAC will not be holding their annual ceremony at the Tower. However, they will still be celebrating Armed Forces Day by holding a virtual ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, featuring The National Anthem, a message from Cape May County Freeholder Director Gerald Thornton, and the playing of Taps. For more information about MAC and how to access the virtual ceremony, visit capemaymac.org/experience/world-war-ii-tower.

Attend Virtual Zoo School
Cape May County Park & Zoo

Even though the zoo is closed, the animals are still out and about so the Cape May County Park & Zoo is bringing the zoo to you! Join the zookeepers Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. as they take you on a virtual tour of the zoo. They will feature a short clip of a different animal and teach you all about it. At the end of every clip, they will have a challenge for you to do at home! All videos are featured on the zoo’s Facebook page @CapeMayCountyParkZoo and on their website at cmczoo.com.

Take a Free Tour of the Emlen Physick Estate

Cape May MAC (formerly the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities) is offering everyone near and far the opportunity to take a virtual tour of the Emlen Physick Estate, the first tour of its kind in 50 years of MAC history. MAC wanted to give their loyal visitors a way to experience Cape May without being yet able to travel here due to the Coronavirus. You can find the tour on their website at bit.ly/EmlenPhysick. Watch Jersey Shore Pops Isolation Improv Live
As we navigate these uncertain times, it is important for all of us, whether as individuals or organizations, to reach out to one another and help lift the collective spirit of the Cape May County community. As their initial contribution to this effort, the Jersey Shore Pops, in association with Beach Video and the Cape May County Department of Tourism, Public Information and Culture & Heritage, have prepared a music video of Johann Pachelbel’s famous “Canon in D!” The video, which features Pops Music Director Linda Gentille, along with twelve members of the Pops orchestra, was produced via teleconferencing technology, thus satisfying all requirements of “social distancing.” To view the video, visit at bit.ly/JSPops.

Cape May MAC (formerly the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities) want to make sure that no matter where you are, you can take a virtual climb to the top of the magnificent Cape May Lighthouse, one of Cape May’s treasured historic sites operated and maintained by Cape May MAC. You can watch the video at bit.ly/CMLighthouse. Look out the windows and take your time. Enjoy the experience.  The lighthouse would normally be open daily to visitors for climbs, but is closed temporarily due to COVID-19.
