Capturing Cape May’s Architecture

In the early ‘70s, a team from the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) produced pen and ink drawings of this seaside town’s most significant historic structures that were instrumental in saving “the best-preserved late 19th century resort in America.” The drawings enabled Cape May to become a National Historic Landmark and a national tourist destination. Stone Harbor Lions Bill Weir Memorial Breakfast

Stone Harbor Lions Charities, Inc. presents the annual Bill Weir Memorial Pancake Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost is a $10 donation per person and includes pancakes, sausage or bacon, small juice and coffee/tea.

Transportation Heritage Festival
Saturday, April 28 at 10 a.m.
Historic Tuckahoe Train Station, 31 Mill Rd., Tuckahoe
The event will feature train rides, military vehicles, historic buses, cars, a special motorcar train ride, a 1950s era Pennsylvania Railroad military display train, a scale live steam train, vendors, a model train layout, historic motorcars and much more. Tickets are $10 per person or $25 per family. Upgrade your train ride seat for $5 more. Proceeds will help the Historical Preservation Society of Upper Township and the United Railroad Historical Society of NJ. Rio Grande Fire Company Auxiliary Spring Craft Show

The Rio Grande Fire Company Auxiliary will host the annual Spring Craft Show on April 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The show will be held at the Rio Grande Fire House and feature outdoor decorations, Mother’s Day gifts, jewelry, wreaths, LulaRoe, vintage items, woodwork, pillows, homemade cupcakes and much more! Sports Memorabilia Show

Ocean City will introduce a new event – a Sports Memorabilia Show – at the Ocean City Music Pier on April 28 and 29. The show will feature a weekend of events and table sales dedicated to athletes, fans and collectors. Celebrity guests will be part of the show, which runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. Fishing Seminars

The Strathmere Fishing and Environmental Club will sponsor three fishing seminars conducted by long-time members of the club. Summer flounder “how-to” fishing skills, using a variety of lures, will be discussed by Bill “Bucktail Willie” Shillingford and Herb Hollinger. The surf fishing seminar, which will include the best rigs, hooks, bait and casting techniques, will be given by Randy Roash and Bud Lyon. Inshore and ocean fishing, focusing on techniques and types of fish found on a reef, will be presented by Brian Riordan. In addition, vendors will be on site. 4-H Council Golf Tournament

Cape May County’s 4-H Horse Council is pleased to announce the 17th Annual Golf Tournament. Tournament entry fee is $105 per person, which includes green fees, carts, registration gifts, door prizes, an Italian buffet dinner and delicious homemade desserts made by 4-H youth. All proceeds from the tournament go directly to 4-H educational costs. Tournament registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with the shotgun kickoff at 12:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top three tournament teams and the top coed team.
