Do The Shore 8/2 – 8/8

There is always something going on at the shore. Fun activities throughout the Cape May County area and we make the job easy, providing you with choices! On August 3rd, check out the Wildwood Crest Antique, Classic and Hot Rod Car Show at the First United Methodist Church in Wildwood Crest. Enjoy the display of antique and customized hot rods. Refreshments are available to purchase.

Join the Wetlands Institute for a summertime party done right! The Wings ‘N Water Benefit Auction is August 3rd at 6:30 pm at the Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor. Enjoy great food catered by the Washington Inn. The event will take place in an air-conditioned tent. There will be a silent auction and a live auction with over 300 items. Items include maritime art, vacation packages, dinner outings, sports tickets and more. Auction items have included a private jet weekend extravaganza and African safaris. Also on August 3, enjoy the Lights out Concert under the Stars at the Lou Booth Amphitheatre in North Wildwood beginning at 8 pm. The concert is free for all spectators so bring your friends and family to enjoy the night. Lights out is a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The show will go on rain or shine. Or if you prefer a different kind of music, go check out the Don’t Call Me Francis Concert at Sea Isle City’s Excursion Park beginning at 8 pm on August 3rd. Just can’t get enough of live tunes? Come out August 5th to watch the Marshall Tucker Concert at the Ocean City Music Pier beginning at 7:30 pm.

Do you have a baby that loves to crawl? If so, they should definitely participate in Ocean City’s Pamper Scamper on August 6th starting at 9:30 am. Pamper Scamper is an annual baby crawling race. Registration is at 9 am and the race will begin at 9:30am. Babies up to 15 months are eligible to participate. For more information, you can call 609-525-9300.

Don’t forget to celebrate National Night out on August 6th starting at 5:30pm. The event will take place at Fox Park in Wildwood Crest. The admission is free for all to join so come out and support a yearly event that offers an opportunity to build neighborhood unity and strengthen police community partnerships in an effort to build a better city and safer America! Enjoy free games, food, prizes, a dunk tank and much more.

August 7 is National Lighthouse Day! Beginning at 9 am there will be free admission to the event at Hereford Inlet Lighthouse located in North Wildwood. A formal ceremony will take place from 10 am to noon. There will be guest speakers that include elected state and local officials, historians, US Coast Guard Honor Guard, and music. There will be additional special guest authors, artists, and museum displays. If you live closer to Cape May you can enjoy free admission to the Cape May Lighthouse as well beginning at 9 am! Come and enjoy a pirate invasion and family activities at the base of the lighthouse including pirate-hat making, games, music and crafts.

If lighthouses do not catch your attention, maybe you would enjoy a Sand Sculpting Contest on August 7th at 9 am. The contest will take place in Ocean City on the 6th Street beach. Come out and get to sculpting! This will be a great event for you and your family to join in on.
