Independence Day week is the prime time to be at the Jersey shore and this 4th of July, Cape May County has quite the lineup of events planned. If you’re looking forward to live entertainment, magicians, tribute bands, surfing, fireworks and much more, you’ve come to the right place.
Join the Middle Township PAC and enjoy The Jersey Shore Pops Summer Concert on June 29 at 7:30pm and every Saturday until August 17. That same evening, you may want to check out Mother’s Worry live in concert at Centennial Park at 7:30pm in Wildwood Crest free to all listeners. Bring your friends and family to enjoy classic rock/pop hits as they rock the stage. Bring your own blanket or chair. If you enjoy the Centennial Park ambiance, you may also want to stop by the Little Rock Band live concert at the same location on July 3rd at 7:30pm. Bring your kids to watch the pre-teen musicians as they perform their classic and contemporary rock hits.
On July 4th come out and enjoy the Jimmy Buffet Tribute band as they rock the stage at Fox Park at 6pm. The admission is free and it will be great fun for people of all ages. Make sure to bring your own blanket and beach chair to relax while listening to great music. For another outdoor live performance, catch the Bill Newnam Orchestra in concert at the Rotary Bandstand in Cape May. This concert will be July 5th at 8pm and the admission is free so come and participate in the lively music and dancing. Bring your own beach chair or relax on one of the park benches.
Ocean City is filled with fun this Fourth of July! Start your day at 10:00am with the July 4th Bike Parade. Registration begins at 9am at the Longport Bridge Parking Lot. The Parade will begin at 10am. Spend the evening on the 9th Street beach with a kite flying competition beginning at 5pm followed by entertainment. The night ends with a remarkable fireworks display off the beach.
Don’t miss the fireworks spectacular show on Sea Isle City’s 50th Street beach beginning at 9pm. This will be a great time for all ages so make sure to bring a beach chair and blanket to enjoy the show. If you are in Stone Harbor then you can enjoy the Fourth of July Celebration at the 80th Street Field. Enjoy a concert beginning at 7pm, games, contests and fireworks which begin at 9:30. In Avalon they will be celebrating the Fourth of July with a concert and fireworks as well on 10th street.
Were you ever interested in seeing a magician live? Now is your chance to see Rich Lessig the Great Magician as he combines magic and humor with his upbeat personality. The show will take place at the Cape May Convention Hall on July 2nd at 7pm and the admission is free. This will be a night for you and your children to always remember.
On June 28th make sure to bring your friends and family to enjoy a beautiful firework show on the Wildwoods beach. The show will start at dusk and is visible from nearly anywhere on the island. If you are a fan of being on the beach and you enjoy surfing then you may want to check out the Eastern Surfing Association SJ District contest. The contest is June 29th starting at 7am in North Wildwood on 12th Ave Beach. There is an entrance fee for participants and to register visit http://snj.surfesa.org.
Don’t miss out on the 19th Annual Italian American Festival on June 28th starting at 6pm on Olde New Jersey Avenue in North Wildwood. Enjoy the vendors, food and entertainment and celebrate the Italian-American heritage. The procession in honor of Saint Anthony begins at Chestnut and Central Aves at 7pm.; 7:15pm will be the opening ceremony at 2nd & Olde New Jersey Ave. For more information call 609-729-4676.
Enjoy finding hidden treasures at flea markets? Stop by the Cold Spring Presbyterian Church on June 29th starting at 8am and browse the selection of eclectic collectibles and goods at their very own flea market. In case of rain, the market will take place on July 6th.
There are many festivities going on for the fourth of July. Why not begin the day with a Doggie parade starting at 8:30am in North Wildwood on 8th and Atlantic Avenue? The admission is free and the theme will be patriotic. Make sure to have your dog on a leash when you go. You can also see the Independence Day Parade at 9am in North Wildwood on 9th and Atlantic Ave and proceeding north to 1st and surf Avenue. In the evening, stop by Fourth of July Patriotic Show featuring the Manhattan Dolls starting at 7:30pm at the Centennial Park Entertainment Pavilion. The show is appropriate and enjoyable for all ages and the admission is free. Make sure to bring a blanket or beach chair. To finish the day check out the amazing fireworks in Cape May and Wildwood. The Cape May fireworks begin at 7:45pm and last until 10:30pm. You have a great view from the Cape May beach. If you are staying in Wildwood the fireworks begin at 10pm and last until 11pm. The view is best from the beach as well. The fireworks are truly something to see so make sure to come out and end your day with a bang!
