Walk through the doors of Cape May Convention Hall next weekend and enter a world of discovery. Even those with a casual interest in nature will find something of interest. The star of the show is Nature Nick with his collection of birds and beasts from around the world. Three times a day, Nick will introduce you to his lovable cast of characters and talk about their native habitats and lifestyles.
Then, check out the east coast’s widest selection of binoculars and spotting scopes, from the affordable to the best that money can buy; great quality at every price point. Visit artists and craft makers, including woodworking and carving, jewelry, felting, and more. There is a wide selection of books on nature and the world, representatives from international tour companies as well as destinations right here in the USA.
You won’t want to miss a visit to the Cape May Monarch Monitoring Project’s table to learn about their amazing migration to Mexico. There will be tagging demonstrations daily at noon. On Saturday, award-winning sand sculptor Brendan Schaffer of the Nature Center of Cape May will be out on the beach outside Convention Hall conjuring up an exceptional new work.
Pour over an exciting diversity of items to bid on in the Silent Auction, such as carvings, gifts, art, binoculars, and discounts on travel to birding destinations. Bidding starts at noon on Friday and closes at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Winning bidders will be notified by phone and must pick up their items Sunday afternoon by 3 p.m. Auction proceeds benefit NJ Audubon.
There will be FREE tote bags for the first 300 people every day and FREE face painting on Saturday and Sunday. Actually, the whole thing is FREE. It is presented by New Jersey Audubon as one of the many ways it endeavors to connect people to nature and steward the nature of today for the people of tomorrow.
