Celebrate National Night Out in Cape May County on August 6

National Night Out is a community-police awareness-raising event that will be celebrated throughout the United States in August 6. Attend one of the many events throughout Cape May County to join in on the fun!

Avalon
6 to 8 p.m.
30th Street Parking Lot, Avalon

National Night Out in Avalon will feature a huge array of activities for the children including Avalon Public Safety, Public Works, and Rescue vehicles on display where kids can sit inside and meet the professionals on the Public Safety Team.  There will be characters, mechanical rides, bounce houses, face painting, a dunk tank, free hot dogs, and free water ice courtesy of Sundae Best.  Avalon Police Chief Jeffrey Christopher will be in the dunk tank, along with other staff. New this year will be a live concert by Jersey Shore band “40 North” which will play contemporary country music and Americana music.  “40 North” is scheduled to perform at two casinos in Atlantic City, and this October, will play in Nashville, TN. Cape May

Cape May Convention Hall, 714 Beach Ave., Cape May

In honor of National Night Out, Cape May will host a night of free family fun at the Cape May Convention Hall. They will have beach games, a bounce house, a dunk tank, a Cape May Fire Truck, U.S. Coast Guard, hot dogs, candy, refreshments, and prizes and giveaways. Middle Township
5 to 8 p.m.
Davies Sports Complex, 626 Goshen Road, Cape May Court House

Join the Middle Township Police Department for a night of free food and games. There will be hot dogs, pizza, cold drinks, mini cupcakes, water ice, face painting, pony rides, bounce houses, and so much more! There will be music by Keith Hickman, a bonfire pep rally honoring Middle Township Junior Pathers Fooball and Cheerleaders, a Hamer’s School of Karate Demonstration, a fire simulator with the Court House Fire Department, Mounted Patrol, NJ State Police Unit Helicopter, and a pie eating contest.  The “Robber” Ducky Scavenger Hunt begins at 5:45 p.m. and the hunt begins promptly at 6 p.m. This event is FREE and open to the public. North Cape May

Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal, 1200 Lincoln Blvd., North Cape May

The Lower Township Police Department invites citizens to attend this year’s National Night Out. It will be held August 6, between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal. There will be public safety displays, games, prizes, a dunk tank, inflatables, complimentary refreshments and live music. It is a fun night for the whole family!

 

North Wildwood
5:30 to 10 p.m.
Bill Henfey Park, 204 E 8th Ave., North Wildwood

Enjoy the yearly event that offers an ideal opportunity to build neighborhood unity and strengthen police-community partnerships in a continuing effort to build a better City and safer America. City departments will set up displays around the block, representing police, fire, public works, beach patrol and recreation. Come join the Wildwood Police Department, Wildwood Fire Department and Wildwood Beach Patrol, for our annual National Night Out in an effort to heighten crime and drug awareness. The event is being held at Fox Park in Wildwood on August 6th from 5:30pm-8:30pm. Free hotdogs, snacks and beverages will be available. Events will include the following activities: K-9 demonstrations, simulated drunk driving course, activities utilizing a working fire hose, pony rides, dunk tank, inflatable slide, bounce house, bean bag toss, and many more games. The Borough of Wildwood Crest Police Department will host a fun-filled evening of free activities for the entire family as part of the National Night Out campaign. Festivities will include DJ entertainment, food, games, prizes, giveaways and more for the entire family. Moon bounces, a face painter and a dunk tank will be included in the fun. Representatives from the Wildwood Crest Police Department, Fire Department, Ambulance Corps, Beach Patrol and Recreation Department, as well as a handful of Cape May County agencies, will all partake in the event. Emergency vehicles from a variety of departments from both Wildwood Crest and Cape May County will line the Centennial Park area. This event is FREE to attend.
