East Lynne Theater presents “Mr. Lincoln”: On Good Friday, April 14,1865, the President and Mrs. Lincoln were watching Our American Cousin at Ford’s Theatre when John Wilkes Booth aimed a pistol at Mr. Lincoln’s head, and fired. In Herbert Mitgang’s play, Lincoln’s life flashes before him, from his early days as a lawyer, to President of the United States as the bullet does it dirty deed. During the 1980s, Mr. Lincoln, starring British actor Roy Dotrice, was performed in four countries. East Lynne Theater selected this play to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Lincoln’s assassination. Tom Byrn who has graced many stages in the Northeast will return to Cape May portraying Lincoln. Grand Lighthouse Cruise: Come aboard the Cape May Whale Watcher to view and photograph seven historic lighthouses of the late 19th and early part of the 20th centuries. Most of these lighthouses stand on pedestals out of sight of land and are still operational. Each 5-hour cruise includes narration on the history of each lighthouse and more. Cape May Stage presents “The Whipping Man”: The Whipping Man by Matthew Lopez takes place in Richmond, Va. in April 1865. The Civil War is over and Caleb Deleon, a Jewish Confederate officer is home after being severely wounded. His two former slaves care for him on the last night of Passover-the ancient celebration of the freeing of the Hebrew slaves from Egypt, noting with particular satisfaction the parallels to their current situation. But the pain of their enslavement will not be soothed by this tradition, and deep buried secrets from the past refuse to be hidden forever as the play comes to its shocking climax. World War II Tower Lookout Museum and Memorial: (Fire Control Tower No. 23) A Museum and Memorial. Fire Control Tower No. 23 on Sunset Boulevard is New Jersey’s last freestanding World War II tower, part of the immense Harbor Defense of the Delaware system known as Fort Miles. After the award-winning restoration, visitors can climb to the 6th floor spotting gallery while reliving the homeland defense efforts during World War II. The ground floor of the tower is fully accessible.
