Cape May Designer House Tour Sept. 23 Features Four Magnificent Seashore Home Interiors

CAPE MAY – Home décor lovers, get ready to be inspired! Don’t miss this one-time opportunity to relish exquisite, professionally designed interiors of four of Cape May’s finest, privately owned homes during the second annual Cape May Designer House Tour on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Cape May Designer House Tour is presented by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC). Last year, MAC presented its first one-day Designer House Tour and it was a huge success. This year, the event returns with four more homes, each professionally designed — all on one day.

The houses and designers featured on the tour are as follows:

The DeWaters Residence: Mary and Dan DeWaters welcome you to their home at 1200 Cape May Ave. After a multi-year design and building process, their move-in date was in late October 2012 – the day of Super Storm Sandy. Luckily their historic town and new home were spared the major wrath of the storm, and they moved in later that week. Their home, the design of architect Joseph Ross and interior design company Wanderlust, reflects their love of the casual beach look with abundant light. The porches and outdoor grilling area are favorite places to entertain and relax.

The Henderson Residence: Boho chic is the vibe at 1131 Cape May Ave. — a fun collaboration between fearless owners Gale White and Charlie Henderson and Classic Coastal Contractors. The first floor renovation includes a custom kitchen, screened porch and pool. The interior is a riot of color with cool “boho chic” vibrating through seven bedrooms.

The Schmidt Residence: The property located at 1236 Cape May Ave. was designed by Fenwick Architects and Dragonfly Interiors and completed in 2016. The objective was to optimize the lot size with a structure that provided the best in open concept living with 10-foot ceilings and high-end finishes. The layout provides a first floor master suite and two second floor en suites. A separate carriage house garage frames a lovely garden complete with a small pool and spa. Good things come in small packages!

The O’Neill Residence: The beachfront O’Neill residence located at 1805 New York Ave. is a high-quality, authentic Shingle Style home that takes advantage of the large oceanfront property and panoramic ocean views. The design of this property includes new wrap-around covered porches, a custom-fabricated lighthouse feature, a roof deck, an outdoor kitchen, natural landscaping indicative of the area and a new pool house resembling the style of the residence.

Self-guided tours of these four homes are offered Saturday, Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each visitor receives a map and a full-color program book with information about the designers, products and vendors. Admission is $25. Tickets must be purchased in advance. They may be purchased online at www.capemaymac.org, or in person at the Washington Street Mall Information Booth or the Emlen Physick Estate, or by calling (609) 884-5404. Tickets are limited and advance purchase is required.
