TripAdvisor®, a travel planning and booking website, recently released a list of America’s top 50 summer hot spots of 2017. This list highlights the top 50 U.S. destinations for travelers this summer based on the greatest increase in seasonal hotel booking interest from spring to summer 2017 on TripAdvisor.
Of these 50 destinations, Cape May County dominated the top 10 with Wildwood Crest ranked as number one, Ocean City ranked as number two and Cape May ranked as number 10. These three locations were the only New Jersey destinations that made the list.
Wildwood Crest is located at the Wildwoods’ southern end of the five-mile island. The Wildwoods are known for their beautiful, expansive, free beaches, and two-and-a-half mile iconic Boardwalk with three amusement piers, three beachfront water parks, shops, arcades and over 300 eateries. The Crest is a place of rest and relaxation among this exciting environment. Sunset Lake boasts the most spectacular sunset views on the island, and serves as a “playground” for watersports. At Centennial Park, outdoor entertainment is regularly scheduled on the beautiful grounds, with a picturesque view of the sandy beaches and pristine waters.
Ocean City is “American’s Greatest Family Resort,” with eight miles of beautiful beaches and bay, two-and-a-half miles of boardwalk featuring two amusement parks, a water park, go-carts, bike rentals and miniature golf, fine dining restaurants, and a downtown shopping district with many unique specialty shops and stores. Ocean City Music Pier hosts a great variety of shows from standup comedy, to musicals, to concerts. Last spring, voters nationwide chose Ocean City as Coastal Living magazine’s Best Beach in America.
Cape May is America’s oldest seaside resort, designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976. Full of beautiful Victorian architecture and B&Bs, Cape May is considered a New Jersey gem. The charming town truly embraces its arts, culture and history with special tours, events and festivals throughout the year. Enjoy excellent dining and shopping on the Washington Street Mall and beyond as well as top theatre companies, a winery, multiple historic landmarks and of course, the beach.
