Breakfast Tour of the Shore: Sept. 21 to Sept. 27

September is National Breakfast Month! In honor of National Breakfast Month, we’ve decided to share with our readers some of our favorite places to wake up in Cape May County. Check out this week’s featured breakfast spots on our Breakfast Tour of the Shore, and start making plans to get out and celebrate the most important meal of the day!

Marvis Diner begins this week’s breakfast tour of the shore, bringing us back in time with its whimsical doo-wop theme. Located on the corner of Pacific and Rio Grande avenues in Wildwood, this breakfast spot pays tribute to Wildwood’s glory days of the 1950s. It features bright colors, retro signage and plastic palm trees that were often seen among doo wop architecture, as well as Wildwood photos lining the walls. Known as “Wildwood’s favorite diner,” Marvis serves up plenty of popular dishes including the Cream Chipped Beef, the Greek Omelette and the Royal Flush with two eggs, two pancakes, bacon and sausage. A best seller among Marvis’s many breakfast choices is the Stuffed French Toast, stuffed with your choice of Nutella and bananas or cream cheese and strawberries. Warm and fluffy, every bite of this French toast stack melts in your mouth. Marvis is open daily serving breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and is closed in the winter. Takeout is available, but you won’t want to miss this family-fun atmosphere. Be sure to take a postcard photo on your way out and let everyone know about Marvis!

Our next stop on our breakfast tour is Saltwater Café, allowing you to start your day overlooking the beautiful waters of Cape May. Located at the South Jersey Marina, Saltwater offers a refreshing blend of your breakfast favorites mixed with one-of-a-kind menu items. Observe boats coming and going while you enjoy the signature Saltwater Starter, featuring French toast or two pancakes, two eggs just the way you like them, Applewood bacon, ham or sausage, and a fruit cup. Opt for a smaller version of this meal with the Small Starter, featuring one egg, one pancake and two pieces of Applewood bacon or sausage. Whichever you choose, you’ll love dining in Saltwater’s charming, nautical-themed atmosphere full of upscale décor. Pair your mouthwatering meal with coffee or fruit juice, or go for an energy fruit smoothie to really kick start your day! Saltwater Café is open daily through Columbus Day from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. serving breakfast all day and lunch starting at 11 a.m. Takeout is available so you can enjoy Saltwater’s unique dishes from the comfort of your very own home or boat!

It’s never too early for a slice at Erma Deli, our next breakfast stop! Erma Deli’s specialty breakfast pizzas are sure to fill your belly and get your day going, and are perfect for sharing with the entire family. Available in 16- or 18-inch sizes, you can personalize your breakfast pizza with egg, bacon, sausage, cheese and whatever else your heart (or stomach) desires! For a more traditional breakfast meal, go for the Fill Your Belly Breakfast complete with pancakes, eggs, breakfast meats, toast and potatoes. Don’t let Erma Deli’s intimate atmosphere fool you – the portions are huge and hearty, as well as the highest in quality! As offseason approaches, look out for Erma Deli’s buy-one-get-one breakfast specials, as well as other breakfast specials which change daily. In a rush? Order your breakfast for takeout and be sure to grab a cup of coffee to go while you’re waiting. Located off of Breakwater Road in Erma, Erma Deli is open daily year round from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is available from 7 to 11 a.m.

Bigger portions of better food – that’s what customers say about Jimbo’s Family Restaurant, our last stop on this week’s breakfast tour of the shore. Located on the corner of 25th & Atlantic avenues in North Wildwood, Jimbo’s boasts a colorful, summerlike atmosphere, and even has its own 18-hole mini golf course right on site. Jimbo’s unique breakfast creations will leave you full and satisfied! We recommend Jimbo’s Signature Sandwich, made with two hard-fried eggs, two pieces of thick pork roll and American cheese, all in between a fresh bagel and served with a side of home fries and fruit. If you’re in the mood for something sweeter, go for Jimbo’s crisp malted Belgium waffles made with a homemade sweet cream batter. Choose your own toppings and make it your own! Jimbo’s Family Restaurant is open daily through Thanksgiving from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Breakfast is served all day, and lunch begins at 11 a.m. Take out is available, but we suggest eating in – you’ll get a free round of mini golf with your breakfast purchase on weekends!
