Bea Stenta’s Mixed Media Collages Capture the ‘Zen in Spring’ at the Cape May Artists’ Cooperative Gallery

WEST CAPE MAY – The Cape May Artists’ Cooperative Gallery (COOP) will feature the works of mixed media collage artist Bea Stenta during the month of April. Stenta’s exhibit, “Zen in Spring,” truly reflects the nature of her art – life in layered images reflecting a moment in time all in perfect harmony. An artist’s reception is scheduled for Saturday, April 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the COOP located at 122 Sunset Blvd. in West Cape May. Light refreshments will be served and the event is free and open to the public.

“I encourage people to look at my work and take the time to really examine it,” said Bea Stenta. “I hope that the message of each piece is understood, or at least provokes thought and conversation,” she added.

Art has always been a part of Bea Stenta’s life. It started with childhood doodles and ultimately resulted in a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Youngstown State University. She works with mixed media collage, finding materials from magazines, photography and handmade paper. Stenta manipulates these images to create art. Stenta, formerly of Jenkintown, Pa., currently resides with her husband in North Wildwood.

The COOP is the first and only artists’ cooperative in the county whose mission is to foster local art and contribute to the understanding and appreciation of the visual arts in Cape May County. Owned and operated by its members, the COOP carries a full selection of members’ original work including paintings, glass, photography, mixed media, jewelry, works in wood and bird carvings, clay and paper, and fiber arts. The gallery is operating under a winter schedule and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday through Sunday with extended holiday hours on Monday, April 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parking is available behind the gallery.
