Bartender of the Week: Water Star Grille

Located directly on the bay with spectacular views and stylish surroundings, the Water Star Grille at the Reeds at Shelter Haven has quickly become one of the shore’s newest hot spots to gather with friends for cocktails. Another aspect that makes the Water Star Grille a favorite place to kick back is its friendly faces serving up those cocktails, which is why we chose to feature the Grille’s very own Pete Howson as our bartender of the week.

Originally from Devon, Pa., this summer has served as Pete’s first season at the Water Star Grille. After managing a corporate restaurant and yearning for a simpler life, he decided to escape to the Jersey Shore. Pete will be living in Avalon and working at Water Star Grille until the end of the season, and will then head back up north to bartend in the Philly area.

Pete shared with us that his recommended drink of choice is the signature Saxtini, made with pineapple infused, chilled Tito’s vodka. Pete explained that the vodka becomes infused when pineapple slices soak in it for two weeks. “It’s a really great cocktail, and it’s definitely worth the wait!”

Pete’s favorite part about working at Water Star Grille is the awesome people he works with and the friendly guests he meets every day. When he isn’t serving up cool cocktails to visitors of the Seven Mile Island, he spends his remaining summer days at the shore hanging out at the beach and running.

Come visit Pete and experience the relaxing yet lively vibe the Water Star Grille has to offer. Both resort guests and guests of the area are welcome to escape and indulge in lunch, dinner and drinks!
