Bartender of the Week: Salty Mermaid Bar & Grille

This week, we visited one of North Wildwood’s newest restaurants in search of our featured bartender of the week. We dove into the Salty Mermaid Bar & Grille and discovered a gorgeous yet inviting beach atmosphere, and the friendly, smiling face of Jules waiting behind the bar.

Although Jules is originally from South Jersey, she now spends seven months out of the year in Southern California, and five months here at the Jersey Shore. She works as a bartender on both coasts, a job she got into after waitressing for eight years. When we asked her how she ended up on the other side of the country, she simply stated, “I just booked a one-way ticket there five years ago and have been back and forth ever since!”

Jules studied psychology at the University of North Florida, but after working in the field for a short time she decided she preferred bartending. She plans on eventually starting a career in real estate.

When Jules isn’t serving up cool cocktails behind the bar at the Salty Mermaid, she enjoys going to the beach, paddlboarding, hanging with friends and trying new restaurants in the area. Her favorite part about the job is that everyone is entering their first season at the restaurant together and working things out as a team.

Comes visit Jules and the Salty Mermaid crew! Enjoy a creative menu, 20 beers on tap, beer and wine flights, specialty cocktails and friendly service. Happy Hour specials are Monday through Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. featuring $2 Coors Light, Bud Light and Miller Lite, $5 Deep Eddy Vodka, $5 Beach Rum and $5 Prophecy Wines. If you prefer a different taste, Jules suggests trying her favorite drink, the Orange Crush. Look out for the Salty Mermaid’s outdoor covered patio coming soon!
