For this week’s quest for a local top mixologist, the first to be featured for Summer 2015, we were led to Menz Restaurant and Bar. A local and visitor favorite where their recipes have stood the test of time. At Menz, family tradition has continued for years and a great display of this is shown in our Bartender of the Week, John Menz. John has been bartending at the restaurant for five years but has been a member of the staff for many more, lending a hand in all departments such as baking, pantry and cooking.
While on the clock, John sometimes graces guests with his singing voice and joins in with the live entertainment. In his freetime, he enjoys working on cars and volunteering for the Rio Grande Volunteer Fire Company. When asked for a drink and food recommendation John states that you cannot go wrong with the Filet Sliders and the Menz Cooler, a refreshing drink mix of Malibu Rum, Vodka, Pineapple and Blue Curacao.
