Take a seat at the bar, take in the fun vibes, and take a second to say hello to our bartender of the week: Mary Sexton! This week’s featured mixologist comes from Cabanas Beach Bar & Grill, a beachfront restaurant and bar that features delicious food, a chill atmosphere, and great staff!
A North Cape May native, Mary has been bartending at Cabanas for the past 11 years. After a few years in the Army, Mary came home and started waitressing at another bar in town, which led her to bartend. After six years, Mary’s friend recommended a job at Cabanas and she’s been there ever since!
While Mary spends most of her time bartending at Cabanas, you can also find her at Iron Pier Craft House or The Club at Diamond Beach, where she picks up shifts throughout the week. Mary said a great part about her job are the regulars that she has grown to know over the years, who continue to come in and share their lives with her. She’s happy to have found a great, fun job with “an amazing group of people that have turned into family.” She said, “that anybody’s dream is to be able to make money while having fun at the same time,” so she’s very fortunate to have found a home at Cabanas.
When she’s not working, Mary enjoys going to the beach, playing with her three dogs, gardening and crocheting. If you’re looking for a recommendation, her favorite drink at Cabanas is the Jalapeno Margarita, which is very popular among her customers!
