This week’s featured bartender is Frank Lowe at Cape Square Entertainment, the new movie theater and entertainment complex in the heart of Rio Grande. Frank is a true local; he was raised in the Villas and still lives there with his family today.
Despite being new to bartending, Frank seemed very comfortable behind the bar as he prepared drinks with confidence.
“I always wanted to be a bartender. It seemed cool,” Frank said.
Frank said that he loves the creativity of bartending; he gets to prepare a variety of drinks both on and off the menu. He also appreciates the opportunity to work at Cape Square Entertainment, which opened its doors in July.
“I really enjoy it. Everyone is excited about the whole new building. It’s good vibes all around,” Frank said.
When he’s not working, Frank spends his time hanging out with his girlfriend and studying aviation. Frank has dreamed of being a pilot for as long as he can remember.
“I remember looking up at banner planes on the beach when I was a kid and saying, ‘I want to do that,’” Frank said. Immediately following his graduation from Lower Cape May Regional High School, Frank moved out to Allentown, Pennsylvania for flight school.
Now certified as a student pilot, Frank’s next step is to get pilot training. Although this can be quite expensive, Frank has a plan.
“All the money I make this summer from bartending will go into pilot training. Next summer, hopefully I’ll be flying a banner plane during the day and bartending at night,” Frank said.
For his signature drink, Frank prepared a Nutty Espresso Martini. This delicious drink, made with Screwball Peanut Butter Whiskey, Mr. Black Cold Brew Liqueur, and espresso, is like having your dessert and coffee rolled up in one.
Stop by Cape Square Entertainment and say hi to Frank. Cape Square Entertainment is located at 3801 US-9 in Rio Grande. By this time next year, you may see Frank both behind the bar and waving down from the sky!
