This week’s bartender of the week is the lively “Irish Bernie,” who serves drinks and entertains customers at North Wildwood’s “authentic Irish bar,” Anglesea Pub!
This summer marks Bernie’s fourth year working behind the bar at Anglesea Pub, but he has a total of 11 years bartending under his belt. Originally from Northern Ireland, Bernie moved to America 22 years ago, choosing the Jersey Shore because of the vast opportunities available. After some time, Bernie decided to pursue bartending, and he’s been serving up drinks in Wildwood ever since.
Bernie started his bartending career at another bar in Wildwood but moved to Anglesea after speaking with owner Sean McMullan, who is also an Irishman. Bernie says that the atmosphere and the people are the best parts of his job, which was evident when he asked all the bar patrons to join in on his picture! Always making sure that every drink is filled (and refilled), Bernie rightfully earns the bartender of the week title, especially if you ask his regulars.
If you’re looking for a drink recommendation, Bernie stands by a classic Guinness. While most people typically drink Guinness on St. Patrick’s Day, Bernie says it is the most popular drink he serves at the bar. He also added that Anglesea’s Guinness is the best Guinness in town, but you might have to be the judge of that yourself!
Next time you’re in North Wildwood, stop by Anglesea Pub to say hi to Bernie, grab a pint, and order some classic Irish pub fare. Enjoy lunch specials, happy hour, live music, and more! The pub is open seven days a week for lunch, dinner and late night snacks. Voted the #1 Irish Bar in New Jersey by Yelp, you’re sure to have a good time at Anglesea Pub!
