This summer, Wildwood welcomes the brand new Backfin Blues Bar & Grill, complete with outdoor and indoor seating, bay views, live music and great food. Located to your left as soon as you enter Wildwood’s island over the Rio Grande Bridge, this new bar and grill is just the experience you’re looking for on vacation.
Happily married for 25 years, Backfin owners Gary and Sandra, “Sam,” McAdams have been business owners ever since they tied the knot. They both grew up in Philly, Gary from Kensington and Sam from Olney, and have been vacationing as a couple in Cape May County for the past 30 years, so they decided they wanted their final business to be located in Wildwood. They had a dream of creating a place at the Jersey Shore where family and friends could come enjoy themselves, and that’s just what they did.
At Backfin, you can sit back, relax and experience that getaway feeling. The upstairs rooftop bar and deck is the perfect place to sip on a cool cocktail in the sun. A variety of drinks are available, including frozen drinks such as rum runners, piña coladas and margaritas. Or, opt for Backfin’s signature drink, the Backfin Blue, bursting with pineapple flavor. While indulging, enjoy the beautiful views of the bay, watch the sunset or view Wildwood’s famous Friday Night Fireworks. Happy Hour at the rooftop deck bar is from 12 to 6 p.m. and features $2 domestic drafts, $2.50 domestic bottles, $3 craft drafts, $3 house drinks and food specials.
For a more upscale casual experience, head downstairs to the newly renovated dining room and expanded bar, open at 4 p.m. Happy Hour downstairs is from 4 to 6 p.m. and features the same specials as the rooftop deck bar. Bring all your friends and family, because the bar now has seating for 24!
Whichever atmosphere you choose to dine in, Backfin’s extensive menu will be sure to thrill your taste buds. The finest and freshest seafood is selected and prepared with fresh herbs and seasonal marinades to satisfy you beyond your expectations. Choice meats are hand selected, carved and trimmed by Backfin’s Executive Chef to be prepared to your liking. Signature sauces and glazes are paired perfectly with each cut, allowing for the most desirable flavor. Early bird specials run Sunday through Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m., and other entrée specials are available throughout the week.
Backfin’s homemade fresh-fired brick oven pizza is available in the downstairs dining room, on the rooftop deck or at the outside pizza bar. It’s the only brick oven pizza on the island that’s made with natural wood and no gas!
