Avalon – Take an eclectic tour of some of the world’s finest wines and spirits at Avalon’s annual Wine & Spirits Festival. The festival is scheduled for Friday, May 9 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Avalon Community Hall, and is the perfect way to kick off a busy spring season in Avalon.
Guests entering the festival will be “taken away” to a rustic vineyard complete with candles, rich colors, burlap, flowers and more. The Michael Thompson Duo will serenade participants as they sample a selection of more than 200 wines, flavored vodkas and, new this year, a variety of Scotch and bourbon.
Hors d’oeuvres will be provided by the island’s finest restaurants. There also will be an extensive silent auction featuring items from local businesses.
“This is a great way for local distributors to feature some of their newest and most popular wines and spirits,” says Kathy Todaro, of Fred’s Avalon Liquor Store. “From really high-end wines, to the new rage in spirits, participants will have a ton of variety to taste and enjoy.”
