6th Annual Escape the Cape Triathlon Returns June 9-10

1750 athletes will test their mettle and resilience as they literally leap into the 6th Annual Escape the Cape Triathlon Presented by Inspira Health Network June 9-10. Voted the Best Triathlon in the Mid-Atlantic and North East Regions and one of the Top 5 Bucket List Races in the World, Escape the Cape, a USAT Sanctioned Event, has quickly become a “must-do” event, with athletes from 38 states and six countries converging on Cape May for race weekend. The Delaware River and Bay Authority’s Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal in North Cape May will once again host this unique endurance event, created by DelMoSports. Thousands of spectators will line the race course, from the starting point at the Ferry to the finish line on the Terminal’s boardwalk. From the incredible start, with the athletes leaping 12 feet from the MV Delaware ferry vessel into the Delaware Bay and swimming ashore, to the gorgeous bike course through vineyards and beautiful back roads, and on the run to the finish line, Escape the Cape is truly unlike any other multisport event. Escape the Cape offers two race distances: The Sprint Triathlon: .35 mile swim, 12 mile bike, and 5K run; and the Olympic Triathlon: 1 mile swim, 23 mile bike, and 5 mile run.

New for 2018 is the Escape the Cape Open Water Classic on Saturday, June 9, providing swimmers the same thrill of jumping off the Cape May-Lewes Ferry to start their race. Sanctioned by the World Open Water Swimming Association, the Open Water Classic offers both a 3 mile and 1 mile race option in the flat waters of the Delaware Bay.

Other activities during Escape the Cape Weekend include a vibrant Health & Wellness Expo with 30+ exhibitors and a free kids fun run, both taking place on Saturday at Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal.
