Celebrate the end of the dog days of summer with your canine on Saturday, September 17 at the 10th annual Mutt Strut on Cape May’s Beachfront Promenade. Strut with your dog anytime between 8 a.m. and noon for a requested donation of $1 per leg ($2 per person, $4 per dog). Registration is required and is held near Convention Hall, Beach Avenue near Gurney Street. The rain date is Sunday, September 18.
The event is popular with locals and visitors alike. Adding to the enjoyment are dog trick and dog costume contests with prizes, auction and dog information.
The event sponsor, Cape May County Dog Obedience Training Club (CMCDOTC), an AKC affiliated club, has held local dog training classes for over 30 years. Part of the event proceeds help the group’s training classes and community outreach. Walkers also support a worthwhile cause, with part of the proceeds to Wings of Rescue. This group of pilots transports dogs from high intake shelters to no kill shelters for adoption.
For more information on the Mutt Strut or dog training classes, email cmcdotc@comcast.net, or visit www.cmcdotc.com, Facebook.com/CMCDOTC or www.WingsofRescue.org.
Dog lovers, come! Come in costume, if you wish, and strut with your mutt, or strut without paws to support a worthwhile cause.
