AVALON – “Some of my best summer memories are of my sister and me running down to the penny candy store with great anticipation. We were given a brown bag and encouraged to explore the bins and barrels of delicious sweet treats,” says Maggie Jones, co-owner of Seven Mile Sweets. “I wanted to re-create that experience for my kids and other families enjoying their summer vacation in Avalon,” continues Maggie.
Maggie and her husband Shawn are not new to the Jersey Shore. It is one of their favorite places on earth. They met in Avalon, got engaged in Avalon, were married in Avalon, and bring their five children (5 year old twins and 4 year old triplets… yup you read it right!) to summer in Avalon. The only thing they needed was the perfect location to bring Maggie’s dream to life and they found it on 26th Street. Now Maggie and Shawn share their vision with the Jersey shore community.
Seven Mile Sweets’ grand opening was on Memorial Day weekend and they will be serving sweet treats to kids – young and old – all summer. This mecca of Pick‘ n’ Mix also offers an array of novelty and nostalgic treats. Special-themed candy treats are planned to coordinate with the feature of each Beach Movie Night throughout the summer, and of course, we’d be remiss if we did not reveal the secret of the Golden Gumball. A child-sized gumball machine stands sentry in the shop.
