Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s master sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, with his loyal friend Dr. John Watson, return to follow the clues in a baffling new mystery for 2016, “Sherlock Holmes and The Case of Melpomene’s Mask,” during Cape May’s Sherlock Holmes Weekend, held at the historic Inn of Cape May, 7 Ocean St., Cape May, and sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC), from Friday, March 18 through Sunday, March 20.
This year’s mystery is a play within a play. For many years now, Dr. Watson has been telling his tales to the audience in the auditorium of the classic, albeit fictional, Horatio Theatre. Now the audience will have the chance to solve a case with this theater as the setting. Stalk the gaslit streets in search of clues and compete for the $250 grand prize and a variety of other valuable gifts as you attempt to solve the mystery.
Full weekend packages are available at $200 per couple or $105 per person and include the welcome reception, performances, tour, luncheon and gift. The Search for Clues tour on Saturday, March 19 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. can be purchased as a separate admission of $15. Affordable overnight packages with accommodations are also available.
