Sea Isle City’s Division of Tourism will host the resort’s 26th Annual Fall Family Festival on Saturday and Sunday, September 19 and 20. The popular two-day event will feature a variety of free family activities, a huge vendors market, a food court, live music and more.
On Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the festival’s Seaside Market will take place along the Promenade, where 400 craft and specialty vendors will offer an array of merchandise – ranging from toys, jewelry and fishing gear to home goods, artwork and fashion apparel. There will also be live music and free family activities at nearby Excursion Park, where face-painters, a photo booth, moon bounces, balloon artists, a “Waxy Hands” station and other enjoyment will be offered.
When festival-goers get hungry on Saturday, they can enjoy a tempting variety of selections from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at The Fall Festival Food Court on JFK Boulevard, adjacent to the Promenade.
Also on Saturday, there will be a free Sand Sculpting Demonstration beginning at 9:00 a.m. on the JFK Boulevard Beach, led by Sand Pounders Professional Sand Sculptors. After learning tips from the artists at Sand Pounders, participants will be invited to erect their own creations during a Family Sand Sculpting Contest. Trophies will be presented to the contest’s winners at 12 noon.
While the Sand Sculpting Contest is taking place, the artists from Sand Pounders will construct a one-of-a-kind creation for all to enjoy on the JFK Boulevard Beach.
A Billy Joel tribute concert, led by musician Robert Eric, will take place at the Excursion Park Band Shell on Saturday, September 19, starting at 8:00 p.m. Concert-goers are reminded to bring folding chairs and/or blankets, because the bench seating at Excursion Park often fills-up quickly.
On Sunday, September 20, Fall Family Festival will continue with the annual Gerard A. Desiderio Antique Auto Show, which will delight car-buffs along the Promenade north of JFK Boulevard from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The auto show will feature scores of classic muscle cars, sedans, trucks and other eye-catching vehicles.
Also on Sunday, festival-goers can enjoy live music by the Snake Brothers Band on the Promenade at JFK Boulevard between 10:00 a.m. and 12 noon. Additionally, the City will offer free Guided Historical Trolley Tours on Sunday, which will begin at Excursion Park every half-hour between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The tours will be led by members of the Sea Isle City Historical Society, who will point-out landmarks and explain how the town has evolved during the past century.
At 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Mayor Len Desiderio will give trophies to the winners of the festival’s Antique Auto Show. Afterwards, the vehicles featured in the auto show will parade through town – honking their vintage horns and delighting spectators between JFK Boulevard and Townsend Inlet on Pleasure and Landis Avenues.
