In the mood for a tasting? Cape May Winery & Vineyard opens its tasting room daily at noon and visitors can sample the various wines produced on-site. “Our winery tours are not only educational, but interactive. We show guests every aspect of the winemaking process, from the vines to the wines,” says winemaker Darren Hesington. The $6 price of the introductory full tasting includes a keepsake glass. The $20 deluxe tour includes eight tastings, a barrel tasting, a tank tasting, and full behind-the-scenes access to the winery’s facilities. At Jessie Creek Winery of Cape May Court House, $5 tastings are available daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and feature Jessie Creek’s lovely Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, a Chambourcin, a Pinot Grigio, and a bright Chardonnay. More recent additions to the Jessie Creek inventory include the On the Way to Cape May Cranberry and Concord Grape Fruit Wines, light, sweet, and perfect for a summer evening. For those who prefer a brew, Tuckahoe Brewing Company is open on Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m. for tours and tastings. The Dennis Creek Pale Ale is not only Tuckahoe Brewing Co.’s flagship ale, but also their most talked about. The Marshallville Wit, also named for a historical Cape May County location, is a white Belgian ale lightly hopped and perfectly spiced.
