WILDWOOD CREST — For the sixth straight summer, the Borough of Wildwood Crest will offer its popular Summer Music Series at beachfront Centennial Park.
The 2014 Wildwood Crest Summer Music Series will include 20 exciting evenings of free live music, beginning June 25 and concluding Aug. 30.
Free live music shows will be held each Wed. and Sat. at 7:30 p.m. at the entertainment pavilion located at Centennial Park at Fern Road and Ocean Avenue. A special Fri. evening show will also be held on July 4 at 8 p.m.
Sat. entertainment includes some of the best-known cover and tribute bands from throughout the Delaware Valley and beyond. Centennial Park favorites such as The B Street Band (Bruce Springsteen tribute), 2U (World’s Second-Best U2 Show), Don’t Call Me Francis (dance/party music), the Chatterband (dance/party music), Bennie & the Jets (Elton John tribute) and more are set to return. New Sat. evening acts on this summer’s schedule include Jamison (Celtic rock), Suzette Dorsey (Tina Turner tribute) and First Ladies of Rock & Soul (girl group hits).
Wednesday’s musical acts include many up-and-coming artists and local favorites performing rock, pop, dance and more. Wednesday musicians include Sweeter Than Honey, the Mango Men, Kick It Out (Heart tribute), the Star Band and much more.
In addition, a special July 4 concert will feature a return engagement of the Manhattan Dolls, performing American hits in USO style, including many patriotic favorites. That show will begin at 8 p.m. and will be followed by the spectacular Wildwoods Fourth of July fireworks show, which is visible from the east side of Centennial Park.
“We are very excited to be able to again offer our summer music series to all of our visitors and residents,” said Wildwood Crest Commissioner Don Cabrera. “We are extremely pleased at how popular these shows have become, and we look forward to many fun-filled nights of free live music at a great venue such as Centennial Park. Attending Summer Music Series shows here in the Crest has become a rite of passage for many visitors and residents alike. It really is a great night out for the entire family.”
Those attending any of the performances at Centennial Park should bring a blanket or a chair.
All shows are free and open to the entire family.
