VILLAS – The Lower Township Department of Parks and Recreation and the Cape May-Lewes Ferry have partnered to present two free summer concerts on the green at the Cape May Ferry terminal. The concerts, which will feature the BStreetBand on July 10 followed two weeks later by the Sensational Soul Cruisers, begin at 5:30 p.m. Bring a blanket or some lawn chairs to enjoy the music along the Bay.
These bands offer an array of music that is sure to please any crowd,” says Heath Gehrke, Director of Operations for the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. “It’s great to be able to partner with Lower Township on events like these concerts that benefit the community. Great music at our terminal with scenic views of the Delaware Bay – it’ll be two nights of summer to remember.
Lower Township Manager Mike Voll remarked, “Mayor and Council enjoy the excellent working relationship with the DRBA in providing great concerts and the best sunsets in New Jersey. First Concert: On July 10, the BStreetBand, will rock the Cape May terminal. Originally known as Backstreets, the band was formed in Asbury Park, New Jersey in May of 1980 by musicians Will Forte and the late Bob Chipak. The addition of Springsteen look-alike, Glenn Stuart, furthered the success of the BStreetBand who now plays powerful Springsteen favorites as well as dance music. Selections range from the legendary Roy Orbinson, Billy Joel, 70s Disco, and Motown to Tom Petty and John Mellencamp.
Second Concert: On July 24, you’re invited to sway to the music of the Sensational Soul Cruisers, an 11 man horn group fronted by four soulful vocalists who pay homage and tribute to classic performers from Otis Redding and the Drifters to Barry White and the Commodores. With a lifetime of study and hard work, this group captures and emulates the distinctive style, skill and choreography of a classic show band. Former members of famous R & B and smooth soul groups, they now work together as individuals with their own sound and delivery and as a vocal harmony group that is beyond comparison.
Food and beverages will be available. No carry in of alcoholic beverages will be permitted. The concerts will be held rain or shine.
