What makes Harpoon Henry’s of North Cape May THE place to be for a summer sunset? Is it the Floridian-inspired frozen drink selection and ambiance? Or their tropical twists on pub grub favorites? Perhaps it’s the always-entertaining Harpoon Henry’s hot wing challenge, featuring one of the County’s hottest hot sauce crafted with the oil of habanero pepper? While these features are enough to set this favorite local hotspot apart, most patrons agree that it is the Harpoon Henry’s warm and friendly staff that makes for the excellent experience. This week’s bartender of the week, Karen, is a shining example of this superior staff. Celebrating her fourth summer season as an employee, Karen absolutely loves the “relaxed atmosphere” and “of course, the clientele” that characterize Harpoon Henry’s. After ensuring that the drink needs of all patrons were satisfied, Karen chatted with us about some of her personal favorites.
The “Harpoon Lagoon” – made with citrus vodka, berry vodka, blue curacao, a splash of lemonade, and a splash of sour mix – is Karen’s all-time favorite Harpoon signature cocktail. Karen has been bartending since she was just 18 and also acts as a mentor mixologist, assisting Harpoon Henry’s staff who are new to the bartending scene. Recently new bartender Chris simply states, “Ms. Karen is the coolest lady in the world.” When she’s off the clock, you can find Karen serving it up on the court. An avid tennis player, Karen likes to play nearly five days a week.
