Cape May County takes Halloween events seriously. Nearly every municipality celebrates with festivals, parades, haunted trails, and trunk or treats. Find an event in your town with our handy guide. If we missed an event, email chall@cmcherald.com

16th Annual Scarecrow Alley 

September 30 through Halloween  

Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., Cape May 

The grounds of Cape May’s original haunted house, the Emlen Physick Estate, is transformed for the spooky season. Scarecrow Alley is a highlight of the Estate’s Halloween decorations. Walk the grounds and vote for your favorite ghoulishly gruesome or foolishly funny scarecrow. 

Halloween 56 Miniature Model Exhibit 

Every day through Halloween  

Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., Cape May 

It’s a witch’s brew of spooky houses, bizarre characters and bats, cats and pumpkins galore, all done in the exquisite miniature fashion which has made the Dept. 56 miniature line so popular with collectors. Nearly 100 pieces and accessories will be on exhibit on the Physick House’s enclosed entrance porch. 

Cape May MAC Haunted Tours 

Cape May MAC has a great variety of spooky-season tours on offer – ghost tours, haunted house tours, historical tours that detail Victorian spirituality, a “Ghosts of Cape May” trolley tour, and more. 4-H Trunk or Treat 

Sunday, October 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. 

4-H Fairgrounds, 355 Court House – South Dennis Road 

Cape May County 4-H members are excited to host this event, which will include fun 4-H club trunks and treats, hayrides, a petting zoo, and a pumpkin patch, at the 4-H Fairgrounds. The event will kick off celebration of National 4-H Week, October 6 through 12. 

Ocean View Trails of Terror 

Friday and Saturday, October 11 + 12, 18 + 19, 25 + 26, from 7 to 10 p.m. 

Come visit this haunted walk in the woods behind the Ocean View firehouse. Admission is a $10 donation to the Fire Company. There is a food truck on-site. A no-scare sensory friendly walk takes place from 4 to 6 p.m.! On Saturday, October 26, the trail converts to a “treat walk” with trick or treating opportunities and no scares! 

Sea Isle City – Halloween Skate Party 

Friday, October 11 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.  

Dealy Field Hockey Rink, Sounds Avenue, Sea Isle City 

Come out four a haunting good time. There will be snacks, a live DJ, and more. No costumes or masks for safety’s sake. Helmet required.  

Historic Cold Spring Village – Pumpkin Festival 

Saturday, October 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Historic Cold Spring Village, 733 Seashore Rd, Cape May 

This fun, free event will take place on the grounds of Historic Cold Spring Village on Saturday – admission is free! Guests are encouraged to donate non-perishable goods to the ‘Share the Harvest’ Food Drive. Families can enjoy pumpkin painting and games throughout the day. A variety of crafters will sell their wares along the Village’s shell-paved lanes. Vendors will be selling hot dogs and other snacks. Visit a haunted house at the Village Barn! 

Middle Township – Halloween House Decorating Contest 

Tuesday, October 15 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Sea Isle City – Halloween Parade & Dance Party  

Friday, October 18 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.  

The parade steps off at 7 p.m. from 45th to 40th streets along Landis Avenue. Come to Surfside Park afterwards for a Halloween-themed dance party.  

Ghoul Spring Village 

Friday, October 18 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. 

Historic Cold Spring Village, 733 Seashore Rd, Cape May 

Historic Cold Spring Village is offering a family-friendly haunted walk-thru for young and old alike on the beautiful grounds of a living history museum that recreates an early American town. Rain or shine!

Belleplain State Forest – Belle-O-Ween 

Friday to Saturday, October 18 + 19 

1 Henkinsifkin Road, Woodbine 

Campers are encouraged to decorate their campsites in “CCC and meisle” – Come Friday for a campfire and smores at campsite 114 at 6 p.m.! Saturday brings trick or treating at from 2 to 4 p.m. at campsites. Campsite decorating contest winners announced at 4 p.m. Saturday at 6 p.m. is a movie on the beach.  

Lower Township –  Trunk or Treat

Cape May – Halloween Parade 

Sunday, October 20 at 3 p.m.  

The parade route begins at Perry Street and Carpenters Lane, proceeds down Carpenters Lane to Ocean Street, travels down Washington Street and ends at Cape May MAC located at 1048 Washington Street. Parade registration is free and begins at 1:30 p.m. on the corner of Perry Street and S. Lafayette St. Judging takes place at 2:30 p.m. Register online at capemaycity.com/halloween-parade 

Middle Township – Halloween Parade 

Wednesday, October 23 at 7 p.m. 

The parade lineup begins at 6 p.m. at Memorial Field and heads down Mechanic Street. Bring a bag to pick up candy! Please register for the parade by October 20 if you want to participate.  

Ocean City – Halloween Parade 

Thursday, October 24 at 7:15 p.m.  

Asbury Ave. from 6th – 11th Street 

Lower Township – Haunted Trails

Ocean City – Halloween Costume Skate 

Skate Park, Fifth Street & Asbury Avenue at 4 p.m.  

Skateboarders are invited to come dressed for the holiday. There will be prizes for best costume and best trick, and candy for the participants. 

North Wildwood – Trunk-or-Treat Block Party 

Saturday, October 26 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.  

Olde New Jersey Avenue, North Wildwood  

Vehicle check-in begins at 4:30 p.m. Families are encouraged to bring their vehicles decorated for Halloween. Prizes will be awarded to the best-decorated vehicles. Registration is free and forms are available at 900 Central Avenue in North Wildwood or at City Hall.  

Wildwood – Elks Haunted House  

Saturday, October 26 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.  

Elks Lodge. 109 West 1st Avenue, North Wildwood

Wildwood – Boo Fest Maker’s Market

Wildwoods Convention Center 

Come visit over 40 regional and local vendors with Halloween-themed wares at the Wildwoods Convention Center. It’s a spooky event, with face painting, kids activities, and plenty of vendors! 

Stone Harbor – Business District Trick or Treat 

Saturday, October 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  

Celebrate Halloween with your favorite Stone Harbor stores and businesses – get those costumes ready for the big day with a fun trick-or-treat event through Stone Harbor’s business district! 

Middle Township – Fall Festival 

Saturday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Mechanic Street in Court House, near the library 

The annual festival, the biggest of the year in Court House, closes off a section of Mechanic Street for rides, entertainment, craft and food vendors. Children and pets can enter the festival’s Halloween costume contest. Registration will be held in front of the library and must be received by 11:30 a.m. 

Wildwood – MudHen’s Boos and Brews 

Sunday, October 27 from 2 to 6 p.m.  

MudHen Brewing Company, 127 Rio Grande Ave., Wildwood.  

It’s Halloween at MudHen! From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. enjoy live music by Don’t Call Me Francis, and participate in the Halloween costume contest and dance party! There will be face painting and activities making this a fun event for the whole family. Don’t miss this festive celebration with plenty of “boos” and brews! Howard Street Ramble Halloween Show 

Thursday, October 31 from 6 to 9 p.m.  

Chalfonte Hotel, 301 Howard St, Cape May 

The Howard Street Ramble, Cape May’s famous jam band, will play their final show of the year on Halloween. Come dressed in costume and enjoy a drink on the grounds of the historic Chalfonte Hotel.
