Events this Week: June 5 – 12, 2024

This week is really busy – the Ocean City farmer’s market finally opens, and the first fireworks ceremony of the season kicks off just up the road the next day. “Seafood and Seltzer” come to Sea Isle with this fun street festival, a free concert hits the Zoo, and much more. Cape May County’s community choir gives a free performance in Marmora. These talented folks practice all year to put on free community concerts.

Ocean City Farmer’s Market Opening Day

Wednesday, June 5 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (and every Wed. after that through Sept.)

Ocean City Tabernacle, 550 Wesley Ave, Ocean City

The popular weekly Farmers Market on the grounds of the Ocean City Tabernacle opens for the 2024 season on June 5 and returns every Wednesday through early September. Locally grown produce and specialties, along with crafters set up on the 500 block of Asbury Avenue.

Ocean City Fireworks Displays

Thursday, June 6 at 9 p.m.

Fifth Street Beach, Ocean City

A fireworks display will be launched to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of Gillian’s amusements on the Ocean City Boardwalk.

Sea Isle: Seafood & Seltzer Festival

Cape May County Park and Zoo 

On Saturday, June 8th, the Cape May County Library kicks off a series of concerts with Tom Brett and Bill Felix, a duo who performs Irish, folk, and bluegrass music.  

Ocean City First Responder 5k  

Saturday, June 8 at 8:30 a.m.  

18th Street and Haven Ave 

The race starts and finishes at 18th Street and Haven Avenue at 8:30 a.m. with a flat out-and-back course along the Haven Avenue bike route.  

Avalon Garden Club Flower Show 

Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Avalon Community Hall, 3001 Avalon Ave 

Come see, and vote on, beautiful flower displays created by members of the Garden Club. Admission is free.  

Angelus Chrous – Cape Hope Benefit Concert

Sunday, June 9 at 3 p.m.

Middle Township Performing Arts Center, 213 Bayberry Dr., Court House

CMCL Outdoors, Bandstand, CMC Park & Zoo  

Tom Brett and Bill Felix play a mixture of Irish and American folk, some baby boomer era acoustic rock, and bluegrass. They performed about 80 shows during 2023 and have done at least 600 together overall since 2011, and many virtually during the pandemic. The duo is the house band at Josie Kelly’s Public House in Somers Point, holding a weekly acoustic session (Sundays 1pm-4pm) and a monthly three hour show (First Fridays).  

Wheelman Vintage Bicycle Demonstration

Tuesday, June 11 from 12 to 1 p.m.

Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington St., Cape May

Members of the public are invited to see and learn about vintage bicycles and see the skill of riding high wheels in action as The Wheelmen host demonstrations during lunch on the beautiful grounds of the Emlen Physick Estate. Men and women from across the country and abroad who are passionate about vintage bicycles and bicycling will be here for the 57th Annual Meet of The Wheelmen June 9-13, with many events scheduled in Cape May, Cape May Point, and Cape May Point State Park
