Two Pride parades come to Cape May County this June to celebrate Pride month. These family-friendly events are colorful displays of solidarity for the local LGBTQ+ community.
In Cape May, Equality Cape May will host a Pride March on Thursday, June 20 at 5:45 p.m. Participants should be ready to walk along the promenade at 6 p.m. down to the Convention Center, where several short speeches will be given. A family-friendly afterparty at the Inn of Cape May will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. with a DJ, drinks, dancing, free face painting, and more.
In Ocean City, We Belong Cape May will host its second-annual Pride Fest starting at 9 a.m. at Sixth Street and the Boardwalk. Join special guest Michael J. Hartman, the founding artistic director for the Greater Ocean City Theatre Company, for an opening ceremony and Pride Walk.
Continue with the celebration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ocean City Civic Center at 840 E. Sixth St., where family fun, community organization resource tables and live music await.
Family fun will include face painting provided by Let’s Party Events, a special appearance by Miss Hammonton Pride 2023 Dallas DuBois, caricatures by artist Megan Smith, DIY recycled jewelry bar hosted by Steadyroots Homestead, Liz Tran Art and Creations, and Mermaid Tears Jewelry, photography by Katelin Keane and Adriana Palmer, balloon animals with Rudy Reel of Lucky Duck Entertainment, trivia with Karen L. Williams, and much more.
