Presented by the Wetlands Institute. Though winter is a quieter time in our marshes and local ecosystems, there’s still plenty of life down at the shore! This presentation will discuss our winter residents here in New Jersey, both the ones we can see around and the ones who go dormant during the colder months, and their strategies to survive.

Our beloved Humpback Whales face many obstacles in the deep blue sea. Ralph Boerner has agreed to make a return visit to the “chats” to bring us up-to-date on what’s up with the Humpbacks.

Kids from 8 to 12 years old are invited to come learn to crochet, and keep coming back to further their skills. We make hats, scarves, blankets, toys and more!

All About Watersheds
Thursday, Feb. 1 from 1 to 2 p.m.

What is a watershed & why is it important? What are the inner workings of a watershed? What are some issues in our local Watershed Management Area (WMA 16), and what data is collected? New Jersey’s waters are a valuable and vulnerable resource. For the past 21 years, the AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors Program has played an important role in raising awareness of how human activities can affect water quality, especially in the most densely populated state in the nation.

Junk Journaling began as the simple art of scrapbooking pictures, tickets and precious scraps of paper as a memory book. Today, junk journaling has evolved into the art of using pieces to create a whole work of art. You will make 3 greeting cards and leave with supplies to make 3 more at home. History Event: Resistance to the Nazis

Many are unaware of any resistance against the Nazis, except for the courageous German army soldiers who attempted to murder Hitler. Attenders will come to know stories about the scope of Resistance during the Holocaust – Mr. Robert Holden is a retired Ocean City teacher and retired Senior Adjunct Professor of History, teaching WC 1, WC 2, and his own created Holocaust and Genocide Studies Course at ACCC’s Cape May County campus

Irish, Folk, and Bluegrass Concert

Tom Brett and Bill Felix play a mixture of Irish and American folk, some baby boomer era acoustic rock, and bluegrass. The duo is the house band at Josie Kelly’s Public House in Somers Point. They have even performed in Ireland!

Drawing Fundamentals
Tuesday, Feb. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In this one-day workshop, you will learn basic drawing skills including mark-making, structure, proportion, values, shading, and composition. All materials provided! Stephanie DiMuzio, the instructor, is a graduate of Moore College of Art & Design. She has received several commissions for paintings and has sold her work to many private collectors. She currently exhibits and sells her work in Stone Harbor, Wildwood, Rio Grande, and locations in PA.
