Cape May Stage announces the next movie in its community “Film-Raiser” series, an initiative aimed at uniting the community while benefiting local causes. In the spirit of giving back during this festive season, the upcoming screening will benefit the Cape May Community Food Closet.
Community members are invited to attend a free showing of the classic musical comedy “Holiday Inn” on Tuesday, December 19, at 6 pm, at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse. This 1942 Oscar-winning film, directed by Irving Berlin and starring Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, and Marjorie Reynolds, is a Christmas treasure that shows a simpler time in history in a warm and endearing light.
Admission to this special event is free of charge, and attendees are encouraged to showcase their festive spirit by wearing creative Christmas attire. Additionally, donations of non-perishable food items and cash will be graciously accepted throughout the evening to aid the Cape May Community Food Closet in their ongoing efforts to assist those in need, not just during the holidays, but year-round.
“We are honored that Cape May Stage has chosen the Cape May Community Food Closet as their partner for their holiday movie,” says Nancy Hanslowe, Executive Director of the Food Closet. “We could not provide nutritious groceries to our food-insecure neighbors without these types of community partnerships.”
