The Tradition Continues at Utsch’s Marina

Celebrating 69 years, Utsch’s Marina continues to serve its customers in the traditional “down-home charm” of Southern New Jersey. Today, Ernie III and Charles continue their “hands-on” operation of the family business.

The marina was founded by Ernest Utsch Jr. with the help of his father, Ernest Utsch Sr. Prior to the marina, the family previously owned a candy business in Philadelphia, which was founded at the height of the Great Depression, and a party boat called the Gertrude W. Ernest Jr. and Sr. wanted to have a place of their own for the head boat, and with Philadelphia becoming less friendly for the family, they came to the shore. The candy business was turned over to Charles F. Schmidt, Jr.’s childhood friend, and it continued for many years. Upon Schmidt’s retirement in the candy business, he rejoined the Utsch family at the marine before his passing.

Utsch’s isn’t just home to its dedicated family of 300+ slip-holders; it also serves as a home base for other water activities. East Coast Parasail lets you experience the island of Cape May “from above.” Or, “jet” around the Cape May Harbor and areas close by with jet ski rentals or jet boat trips.

Utsch’s Marina is also home to multiple charter boats, including Cape Queen Charters, Fishin’ Fever Sportfishing, Free Spirit Fishing, Full Ahead Sport Fishing, Legal Limits Charters, Reel Busy Sport Fishing, and more. These charters offer various types of fishing trips for all!

Want to fish on your own? The Bait & Tackle Shop can get you “hooked up” with the right bait and equipment needed to catch your dinner for that day, setting you up with a modestly priced rod ‘n reel combo along with live bait, including eels, minnows, and frozen squid.

Have a boat? The Ship’s Store will assist you in keeping your vessel in tip-top shape. Have a boat elsewhere and want to visit by water? Utsch’s also has transient slips for those who wish to visit Cape May for a few days or more, and beautiful bathhouses and a laundromat are available. Stop by the office or call for reservations.

The Marina chapel has Sunday Worship Services every Sunday at 8 a.m. with traditional, non-denominational Pastor Joseph Springer.

Stop into Utsch’s and say hello, and see for yourself all the marina has to offer. Make Utsch’s Marina your “Home Away From Home…” You’ll be glad you did!
