Fun Ways to ‘Do The Shore’ at Home

Events are cancelled, some of our favorite activities are closed, and people are told to practice social distancing. So how do you ‘Do The Shore’ when you can’t leave your home or have to stay within six feet of others? We’re here to help! We’ve compiled a list of things to do for Cape May County residents (and any non-residents who are planning their summer vacation from afar!).

Take a Virtual Tour of the Cape May County Zoo
Even though the zoo is closed, the animals are still out and about so the Cape May County Park & Zoo is bringing to zoo to you! Join the zookeepers Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. as they take you on a virtual tour of the zoo. They will feature a short clip of a different animal and teach you all about it. At the end of every clip, they will have a challenge for you to do at home! All videos are featured on the zoo’s Facebook page @CapeMayCountyParkZoo. If you missed any of the previous videos, you can watch them all on the Facebook Page.

Get in a Workout
If you can’t go to your favorite gym, take matters into your own hands. Go for a walk or run (as long as you’re practicing social distancing when you’re out and about!) or find a workout class to do on your own. Some gyms are even offering free live workouts while closed, like Miracles Fitness in Rio Grande. You can find out more information about the live workouts on the Miracles Fitness Facebook page @MiraclesFitnessHQ.

Order Takeout or Delivery
Although you cannot dine-in at the moment in Cape May County, many restaurants are still open for take-out or delivery! Have an indoor date night with your special someone or bring the family together for dinner and game night. Whether you’re watching a movie on the couch or breaking out the board games for some family competition, you won’t have to worry about dinner because the Cape May County restaurants that remain open have you covered.

Submit Your Photos to Do The Shore
While you may not be able to appreciate everything the shore normally has to offer, you can always reminisce by looking through old photos! We are currently accepting photos for Do The Shore Magazine covers this summer and Pet Pages for Pet Appreciation Month next month! To submit photos for a chance to be featured on the cover of Do The Shore Magazine, visit bit.ly/DTSCoverPhoto. To submit photos of your pet in Cape May County for the Pet Pages, visit bit.ly/2020-pet-pages. Deadline to submit pet photos is April 1.
