After a year’s absence, the Naval Air Station Wildwood (NASW) Aviation Museum is bringing back its autumn fundraiser: the 1940’s Big Band Swing Dance! Step back in time to a bygone era for a night of dancing, music, and 1940s outfits. You won’t want to miss out on this fun-filled evening surrounded by over 70 years of history!
This event fundraiser supports the NASW Aviation Museum’s mission to preserve, restore and maintain Historic Hangar #1, which was built in the 1940s. Keeping with this time period, the swing dance is designed to engage and entertain a wide variety of guests. The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with easy-to-learn swing dance lessons provided by instructor Tom Cupp.
At 7 p.m., the Serenaders – a 14 piece big band swing orchestra – will kick off the dance with the best tunes of the era. Lite fare will also be included, along with a cash bar (though feel free to BYOB). Guests are guaranteed a seat with pre-purchased tickets, but there will be tickets available at the door. Tickets can be purchased over the phone or by going online to the museum’s website.
Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum is located inside Historic Hangar #1 at the Cape May Airport, New Jersey. The site was formerly Naval Air Station Wildwood, which served as a World War II dive-bomber training center.
