Skimmer Festival is Sea Isle’s largest summer festival, featuring two days of family-friendly activities and entertainment. The festival will begin Saturday, June 16 with a Seaside Vendor Craft Market along the oceanfront Promenade from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also, the popular Skimmer Food Court will be open in front of Excursion Park, located at JFK Boulevard & Pleasure Avenue, where a tempting selection of local delicacies and traditional festival-fare will be on sale. Meanwhile, inside Excursion Park, festival-goers will enjoy live music by the Philly Blue Soul Band and a variety of free family activities, including an Art Bar, Face Painting, Photo Booth and “Waxy Hands.” There will also be a “Sand Art” station, where children can create souvenirs for a small fee. We will once again have free amusement rides from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Skimmer Festival will continue on Father’s Day, June 17, with an Antique Auto Show along the Promenade north of JFK Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. History-buffs and auto-enthusiasts will flock to display and admire scores of vintage vehicles while enjoying live music by The Snake Brothers Band from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Also, Free Guided Historical Trolley Tours will be offered every half-hour in front of Excursion Park from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The tours will be led by members of the Sea Isle City Historical Society, who will point-out notable landmarks and explain how Sea Isle has grown over the years.
At 1 p.m., trophies will be presented to the winners of the Antique Auto Show. Then, each of the vehicles entered in the auto show will parade through town, bringing this year’s Skimmer Festival to a spectacular close.
In case of rain, most activities will be cancelled. Saturday’s Seaside Craft Market and Food Court are rain or shine; however, some vendors may choose not to participate.
Please note that Jitney Service will be available on Saturday starting at 9 a.m.
