CMC Museum Exhibit: Hail to the Chiefs!

In honor of Presidents Day, The Museum of Cape May County is hosting an exhibit, “Hail to the Chiefs!” that highlights more than 15 of our nation’s leaders, including two of our nation’s finest presidents – George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. On display are artifacts from The Museum’s collections as well as from a private collector that bring these patriotic men to life. “Hail to the Chiefs!” runs from Feb. 2 through March 2. The exhibit is in The Museum’s gallery, located in the Administrative Building. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free. MAC Lunch & Learn Series: Classic Movies and Their Stars of Yesteryear with Alex Breve

Explore the Golden Age of the American film industry via this sight and sound presentation of the classic studios, stars and films of the era. Hollywood became the movie capital of the world as dream factories cranked out films and turned actors into stars. Included will be a short history of film industry and the major and minor studios of the era. Clips from classic films will highlight stars such as Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart and John Wayne. From 4 to 5 p.m., Cold Spring Brewery will serve up some tasty brews and historical knowledge. Gather round the fireplace at the brewery for this free lecture series with Historic Cold Spring Village’s own Deputy Director Jim Stephens. The topic on Feb. 8 is “New Jersey and Booze: Perfect Together,” a look at the alcohol industry and alcohol use in New Jersey from the colonial era through the end of Prohibition. The Atlantic Coast Wrestling Association will host an elementary and middle school wrestling tournament for grades 2 through 8, with over 1,500 wrestlers! Hours are Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Times are subject to change. 4-H CHOPPED! Cooking Contest

The Kitchen Phanatics 4-H Club will host the 4-H CHOPPED! Cooking Contest. The event is open to all registered 4-H members in Cape May County who are in the 4th grade or older. Contestants will have two hours for food prep and cooking and will be judged on: creating a table setting, displaying a menu for one meal and preparing one dish from their menu. The twist to the contest is that all prepared dishes must include apples. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners in junior and senior divisions. Congress Hall’s 4th Annual Ice Ball

Guests of the 4th Annual Ice Ball will enter Congress Hall’s Ballroom and tented Grand Lawn and find themselves surrounded by ice sculptures and twinkling branches that look just like icicles. The Ice Ball, which is a yearly benefit for The Fund for Cape May, raises private funds for public projects to support South Jersey’s Cape Island communities.
