The Matt Szczur Family, along with the Szcz The Day, The Matthew Szczur Foundation, will host the Third Annual “SZCZ the Day” fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. at Congress Hall, 200 Congress Pl., Cape May. The night will include an hour-long, private, 16-person meet-and-greet with Matt and his wife prior to open cocktail hour, a three-course sit-down dinner, and live and silent auctions.
As you may know, Matt, a local Cape May County native and Villanova University graduate, is a professional major league outfielder for the San Diego Padres. While baseball is his heart, he also has a passion for saving lives. Matt donated his bone marrow to a young Ukrainian girl in 2010, saving her life with his selfless gift. Since then, he has committed a large amount of his time to promoting transplant awareness and fundraising for the cause.
Proceeds will benefit Szcz The Day, The Matthew Szczur Foundation, which was founded in 2017 by Matt and his wife Natalie. This nonprofit organization’s mission is dedicated to improving the lives of the afflicted and less fortunate through philanthropy, charity and the promotion of voluntarism. Their passion and purpose is to not only add as many marrow donors to the Be The Match® Registry in an effort to save lives, but to also give back to their local community!
