Boardwalk Entertainment will once again support the veterans with the Veterans Celebration Weekend Saturday, Aug. 25 and Sunday, Aug. 26. The weekend includes two festivals, The BBQ & Blues Bash and the Rock the Veterans Concert, both featured at Fox Park. From live local music to the KidZone and multiple veteran memorials, there’s something for everyone. The Wildwood American Legion Post 184 and the Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 955 will be supported through the events.
The BBQ & Blues Festival will feature live blues music from bands including Jukebox Robbers, SeVen Deep and more. Food trucks and tents will offer barbecue varieties, a beer garden will be open through the day, retail shopping will be available through the vendor row and kids can enjoy the KidZone. The event has free entry all day and will be from 1 to 9 p.m.
Rock the Veterans is a rock concert benefitting the two organizations, with local bands including Poor Mouth Henry and The Cause. Tickets are required; $7 pre-purchased tickets and $10 door tickets. $5 from each ticket will be donated to the charities. In addition to the concert, food and beverage vendors will be available including the beer garden and children can enjoy the KidZone. Tickets can be found on the website or at the door, and the event will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Ticket is non-refundable and includes all day re-entry.
Through the two days, Boardwalk Entertainment will honor veterans multiple ways. The company is asking the community to provide photos, stories and information on veterans around the area. From there, a collage of veterans photos will be created and displayed, and a unique six-foot-tall memorial wall displaying names of the passed veterans will be available for those to write notes. Each day will also feature a half hour ceremony, including a moment of silence for those veterans lost. Local veterans and veterans with extraordinary service will be honored.
