Saturdays, June 24 and July 1 at 9 a.m.: Family Bird & Nature Walk
Learn about this amazing natural area with a rare dune forest between untouched beach dunes and salt marsh. Birds (both song and shore) and butterflies are plentiful. Binoculars can be provided. Nature activities, coloring sheets and a scavenger hunt are also available for kids! These walks of approximately one mile in length last about an hour and a half, and are fun for novice and experienced birders alike.
Wednesday, June 28 at 10 a.m.: Ghosts, Moles & Fiddlers: Crabs! Oh My!
Wonder what shorebirds feed their young? Why those little birds run around at the edge of the surf? Who keeps the beach clean? Who lives in those holes on the beach and marsh? Find out in this program. The program will start with a slideshow, then move to the beach where we’ll discover more about some of these mysterious little creatures.
All programs start at the Visitors’ Center, located at 12001 Pacific Ave. (Ocean Drive), just west of Wildwood Crest. No pre-registration is required, but sunscreen, insect repellant and water are recommended. For more information or directions, email info@friendsofcapemayrefuge.org.
