The Avalon Performing Arts Council (APAC) is pleased to announce its 30th Annual Art Show and Sale on Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24. The Art Show is APAC’s premier event and is celebrating three decades of art. Featuring over 50 artists from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and New York, the artists’ original work will be exhibited and sold. Artists’ works will be judged in several categories: oil, acrylic, watercolor, works on paper/mixed media and photography.
In celebration, the show will be held at the Avalon Elementary School by the Library on both days. The Opening Night Preview Reception is Friday, June 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. Light food and beverages will be provided. APAC will team up with the Avalon Free Public Library’s Second Annual Open House on Saturday, June 24, where the art show continues from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
APAC will feature a number of changes to the show this year, adding the category of sculpture, an art workshop for ages 6 and up, and an “Emerging Artist” category for High School students, juried separately. Judging and awards will be announced by 12 p.m. “Best in Show” carries a cash award of $500, first place $200, second place $150 and third place $100. Chieh-Nie Chang of Hillsborough, N.J. was 2016 “Best in Show” award winner for her work “Irises.” The “Best in Show” in the “Emerging Artists” category carries a cash award of $100, and will be announced during the show. The silent art auction, in its third year, will be held both days. Admission is free. Donations are accepted.
