MIDDLE TOWNSHIP – Shore Productions’ tryouts for the summer camp production of the musical “Mary Poppins” at the Performing Arts Center of Middle Township indicate the cast and backstage crew may reach the 100 total for the first time in the camp’s six-year history.
Director Kay Aspell has reported that the first auditions drew 83 young people between the ages of six and 15 for stage roles and eight others seeking to become backstage workers.
The show will be the culmination of Shore Productions seven-week summer theater camp that begins on June 19, and every young person registered at the camp will be given a part in the play or on the stage crew.
Aspell said that several more students are expected to join the company before rehearsals begin in June. The initial tryouts included 63 girls and 20 boys.
Other auditioning and callback sessions, the final on Saturday, June 3, starting at 9 a.m at The PAC, are scheduled before Aspell makes her cast announcements in June.
Performances will take place on August 1, 2, 3 and 4. Call the PAC Box Office at (609) 463-1924 for tickets. Tickets will be available as of June 5, 2017. Adults are $12 and seniors and children are $10. All seats are reserved seating.
