Clean Ocean Action Hosts 32nd Annual Spring Beach Sweep

Event Date:
04/22/2017

Thousands of volunteers will collect trash from beaches, bays and waterways on Saturday morning, April 22, helping Clean Ocean Action clean for our community and wildlife.

The nonprofit group’s 32nd annual spring beach sweep will take place in more than 70 New Jersey communities from Middlesex to Cape May counties. Cape May County locations include:

Avalon - 32nd Street Beach
Cape May - Nature Center of Cape May (1600 Delaware Ave.), 2nd Avenue Beach (Jetty Motel: 2nd Beach Ave.)
Ocean City - Ocean City Music Pier - Moorlyn Terrace and Boardwalk (825 Boardwalk)
Sea Isle City - John F. Kennedy Boulevard Beach
Stone Harbor - 96th Street Beach
Wildwood - Poplar Avenue Beach (Groff's Restaurant - 423 E. Magnolia Ave.)
Wildwood Crest - Centennial Park (Fern and Ocean Ave.)
Villas - Village Rd. and Bay Drive (meet at the dead end by the beach access)

Beach sweeps begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 12:30 p.m. Bring gloves and bring a friend, and come out rain or shine!

Clean Ocean Action conducts spring and fall beach sweeps to monitor the kind of trash that accumulates before and after the summer, when communities rake their beaches daily. By collecting debris, volunteers help beautify beaches as well as reduce the possibility plastics and other materials will enter the ocean and harm marine life.
