Drink of the Week: Summer 2017 Roundup

We spend our entire winter counting down the days until Memorial Day Weekend, and before we know it, the summer has come and gone and the Labor Day blues set in. But we here at DoTheShore aren’t ready to let the summer go just yet! So, we’ve decided to relive those beach days and Boardwalk nights by featuring all of our drinks of the week from summer 2017. Watch the video below and read on to find our 12 summer cocktails, pick your favorite and go celebrate an endless summer!



1. Italian Stallion from Mad Batter Restaurant & Bar
Bartender Kyle made the bold yet refreshing Italian Stallion by first placing a generous amount of mint leaves at the bottom of a glass, then pouring ice and fresh lime juice over the mint, and shaking to chill. Next, he added two ounces of Buffalo Trace Kentucky Bourbon, and topped it off with Fernet-Branca liqueur. A mint leaf garnish was the finishing touch, matching the others within the concoction.

2. Blake’s Blueberry Mojito from Harbor View Restaurant & Bar
A delicious twist on a classic, bartender Aurora made Blake’s Blueberry Mojito by muddling lime slices, fresh mint leaves, house-made blueberry simple syrup (made by bartender Blake) and a splash of fresh lime juice, and then topping the concoction with club soda. Mint leaves and a lime slice garnish were the finishing touches to this subtly sweet drink.

3. Chum Bucket from The Surfing Pig
The Chum Bucket is a seafood lover’s dream, loaded with Old Bay Seasoning, crab and shrimp. The bartender made this spicy and salty drink by first placing some Old Bay Seasoning at the bottom of a glass, then adding fresh lump crab meat, ice, Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Bloody Mary mix. Finally, he poured the mixture into an Old Bay-rimmed glass and added crab claw and shrimp cocktail garnishes.

4. Strawberry Basil Bubbly from Joe’s Fish Co. on Morey’s Surfside Pier
Crisp, cool and refreshing, bartender Johnny made the Strawberry Basil Bubbly by first muddling strawberries, fresh basil and lime juice in a glass. Next, he added ice, Hendrick’s Gin and St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur. After giving the mixture a good shake, he strained it over the rocks, topped it with champagne and garnished it with a basil leaf. The result: a bold basil flavor with the perfect amount of sweet strawberry to balance it out.

5. Heavenly Martini from Cabanas Beach Bar and Grill
Smooth and sweet, the Heavenly Martini is heaven on earth! Bartender Jason made this berry-flavored martini by first pouring Van Gogh Açaí-Blueberry Vodka and St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur into an ice-filled glass. Then, he added a splash of sour mix and cranberry juice. After a good shake, he poured it into a martini glass to indulge.

6. Mai Tai from Bare Foot Bar & Restaurant
Keep your summer going with a classic Tiki cocktail, Mai Tai! Bartender Noreen mixed Pusser’s Rum, Cruzan Banana Rum, pineapple juice and orgeat syrup to make this blend of summer flavors, and garnished the drink with an orange slice and a cherry. Enjoy this fruity combination in one of Bare Foot’s color-changing glasses so your bartender knows exactly when you’re ready for another!

7. Ice House Martini from Ice House Restaurant & Bar
Bartender Christian made this refreshing signature martini by combining Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum, Cointreau triple sec, fresh lime juice and pineapple juice over ice, giving it a good shake, then pouring the final product into a chilled martini glass and garnishing with an orange slice garnish. Classy yet casual, this drink is perfect for rum lovers.

8. Delaware Bay Breeze from Nauti Spirits Distillery
Nauti Spirits makes the classic Bay Breeze its own with its premium Garden State farm-bred vodka made from sweet potatoes, fresh squeezed lime juice, house-made pineapple syrup and cranberry juice. After the mixture is shaken and strained into an ice cold martini glass garnished with a lime slice, it’s time to indulge in this sweet piece of paradise.

9. P-Cosmo from The Princeton
The P-Cosmo is made with Tito’s vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice and fresh squeezed lime juice. Refreshing citrus is the main taste in this bright pink concoction, along with a hint of sweetness from the cranberry juice, and of course a nice kick of smooth vodka. Finished off with a lime garnish, this cosmo is simply pleasing to both the eye and palate.

10. Wharf Margarita from The Wharf
Sweet, sour and strong, the Wharf Margarita is made by combining Jose Cuervo tequila, Cointreau orange liqueur, lime juice and a splash of fresh squeezed orange juice, squeezed on the premises through The Wharf’s own citrus juicer. After it’s garnished with an orange slice, sit back, relax and take sip!

11. Mango Margarita from Jake’s Bar & Grill
This light, refreshing margarita on the rocks is a signature drink of Jake’s, made with a shot of mango liqueur, a shot of tequila, a splash of triple sec and lime juice, and orange juice and sour mix to top it off. After the mixture is shaken over ice, it’s poured into a sugar-rimmed margarita glass with an orange wedge garnish. Indulge in this fruity, cold cocktail, and let your mind take you away to paradise…

12. Southern-style Spiked Tea from Country Club Tavern
This bold drink is made with triple sec, white vodka, gin, white rum, iced tea and lemonade. After some shakes, pours and a lemon slice garnish, CCT mixologist Jean presented us with an excellent cocktail for the dog days of summer. While every sip was full of smooth vodka, gin and rum, those strong flavors were perfectly balanced with the subtle sweetness of iced tea and lemonade.
