TEDxCapeMay Finds 'Common Ground' on Oct. 14

TEDxCapeMay returns to the Jersey Shore for its seventh season on Sunday, Oct. 14 to find "Common Ground" with 12 outstanding speakers and performers, each challenged with presenting a novel "idea worth spreading" in 18 minutes or less. Topics range from the #MeToo movement to birding, to harnessing solar power from space. Presenters include actress Dee Wallace (the mom from Steven Spielberg's ET: The Extra-Terrestrial), internationally acclaimed birder and photographer Richard Crossley and Grammy Award winning musician James Mtume.

Attendees also receive snacks, gifts and an open bar lunch reception at the Congress Hall Hotel. Tickets are $60 per person. Program only tickets (without reception) are available for $30 and student tickets are available for $10.

Setting the stage for the main TEDxCapeMay event is TEDxCapeMaySalon entitled "Our Unexpected Connection to Dolphins." This three-hour boat cruise includes a TEDx presentation, lunch and open bar aboard the Cape May Whale Watch & Research Center.

"This year we're finding common ground through citizenship, gender, animals, music, and between earth and space," says organizer Norris Clark. "We are also featuring ideas worth spreading with students selected from several area high schools."

Since 2012, TEDxCapeMay has drawn nearly 1500 attendees for over 60 talks that have been viewed online by over 1 million people worldwide. Globally, TEDx talks were viewed by over one billion people last year.

Sponsors include Exit Zero Publishing, Midnight Media Group, One Trick Pony, Congress Hall Hotel, Cape May Brewing Company, Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May, Nauti Spirits, and Cape May Forum.
